The Cottage of Content is the Public House in Barton, and is only a 5 minute walk from Barton Moorings. The pub serves a selection of local ales, wines and good food. Muddy boots and dogs are welcome. There are also camping facilities in the rear garden of the pub. Barton Moorings has excellent links to Stratford upon Avon which is 2.5 – 3 hours with 5 locks upstream. You can call in at The Four Alls in Welford, this pub has a lovely garden adjacent to the River Avon. If you chose to go down stream, Evesham is 3 hours and 4 locks away. Along this route there are two riverside pubs: The Frog in Bidford on Avon and the Fish and Anchor at Offenham.

If you enjoy walking, Bidford on Avon is 15 minutes away across the fields. For a longer walk, the Heart of England Way runs right through the centre of Barton, and Welford on Avon is approximately a 1 hour walk along the River Avon. There you’ll find the award-winning Bell Inn, which serves excellent food and has a lovely garden. Further up the village by the famous Maypole, you can also visit The Shakespeare, another fine country pub.

Barton lies just a few miles away from the Cotswolds, with countless beautiful towns and villages to explore, as well as some of the most spectacular scenery in England. There are numerous festivals, fayres and fetes held pretty much year-round, so rest assured you won’t be twiddling your thumbs!
